What state solar and electrification rebates exist?
The short answer
State support is separate from the federal certificate scheme and varies a great deal. Victoria, New South Wales and the ACT each run their own published programs, and several states offer none for solar panels.

Two things make this area difficult to summarise honestly. Programs change with budget cycles, sometimes mid-year, and eligibility is usually tied to income, property value or whether you have received support before. So the useful thing an article can do is tell you who publishes the current rules, not restate an amount that may already be stale.
Where to check, by jurisdiction
- Victoria: Solar Victoria publishes the solar panel rebate, its eligibility criteria and the current amount.
- New South Wales: the state energy department publishes household energy programs and upgrade incentives.
- Australian Capital Territory: the Home Energy Support program publishes rebates for homeowners covering electrification, including hot water and heating.
- Other states and territories: support has been more intermittent, and where nothing is offered for panels there is often still something for hot water or heating.
How they stack
State programs generally sit on top of the federal certificate discount rather than replacing it, so a quote can reflect both. Some state programs require you to apply and be approved before installation, and installing first disqualifies you. Read the sequence, not only the amount.
