General information only
Everything on this site is general information about Australian trade regulation, home maintenance and consumer rights. It is not professional advice and it is not tailored to your property, your contract or your dispute.
Where something turns on your specific circumstances, the right next step is the regulator in your state or a qualified adviser, and the relevant pages say so.
Regulation is state-based and it changes
Australian trade licensing, building rules and rebate schemes differ between states and territories and are amended regularly. Two examples from the last two years: Victoria's building and plumbing regulator was replaced in July 2025, and solar installer accreditation moved to a different body in February 2024.
Every source we cite shows the date its page was fetched and the response we got, and each page publishes its review date in machine-readable form. Always confirm anything that matters with the regulator where you live, and treat the linked source as more current than our summary of it.
Safety
Electrical, gas, plumbing and refrigerant work is licensed in Australia for safety reasons. Nothing on this site should be read as encouragement to do licensed work yourself. Where we describe what a job involves, that is so you can understand and compare quotes, not so you can attempt it.
Prices and figures
This site publishes no estimated or typical price ranges. Where a figure appears, it is one published by a named authority and it links to that authority. Schemes change and figures go out of date; the source is authoritative, not our restatement of it.
Links to other sites
We link to Australian regulators, standards bodies and government schemes. Those sites are not under our control and we are not responsible for their content or availability. A link is a citation, not an endorsement of everything at the destination.
No business listings, no leads
No business is listed, ranked, recommended or advertised on this site, and we do not generate or sell leads. Nobody can pay to appear here.
Accuracy and errors
We take accuracy seriously. Every claim is sourced and the build fails if one is not. But we do not warrant that the site is free of error or completely current. If you find something wrong, email support@tradieanswers.com.au. Material corrections are made on the page, its review date is updated, and the change is listed publicly on our corrections page.
Copyright
The text and design of this site are ours. You are welcome to quote a short extract with attribution and a link. Material quoted from regulators and standards bodies belongs to those organisations and is subject to their terms.
Your rights under Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under Australian Consumer Law or other legislation that cannot be excluded.
